Tab Wake: Privacy Policy
Tab Wake by Hall House Labs · Last updated: October 16, 2026
The short version: Tab Wake keeps everything on your device. We don’t have servers, accounts or analytics, and the extension sends nothing about your tabs or browsing anywhere. The only network call is an optional one-time license-key check with Gumroad if you buy the unlock. We can’t see your data, because we never receive it.
What Tab Wake stores
When you send a tab to sleep, the extension saves the following in your browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device:
- The tab’s web address (URL), its page title, and the time you chose for it to reopen.
- Counts of how many tabs you have snoozed and woken, including how many snoozes you used this calendar month (used for the free monthly allowance), your settings (preset times) and, if you buy it, your license key.
This data stays in your browser profile. It isn’t sent to Hall House Labs or anyone else. When a tab wakes up, its entry is removed from the list. “Delete all sleeping tabs” in Settings, or removing the extension, erases it. Because the address of a page can contain private information, sleeping tabs are kept only until they wake or you delete them.
When the extension reads a tab
- Only when you click the toolbar icon or choose “Wake this tab at…” from the right-click menu does Tab Wake read that one tab’s address and title, using Chrome’s “activeTab” permission, which gives access to the current tab only, only at that moment.
- It does not read page content, forms, cookies, passwords or your browsing history, and it does not run on pages in the background.
What we don’t do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking.
- No network requests, except one optional check: if you buy the unlock and click Activate, your license key is sent to Gumroad (api.gumroad.com) to confirm it is valid. Nothing else is ever sent: no tab addresses, titles or browsing information. No remote code is loaded.
- No selling, sharing or transferring of user data.
Reminders and notifications
Wake-ups use Chrome’s alarms feature, and the “your tab woke up” message is a normal browser notification, all on your device. Chrome must be running for a tab to reopen at its time; if Chrome was closed, Tab Wake reopens the tab when Chrome next starts. When a tab wakes, Chrome loads that page from the website, as it would if you opened the page yourself.
License keys and payment
The free version includes 3 snoozes a month (counted on this device by calendar month, local time, and reset on the 1st). A one-time unlock removes that limit. Tab Wake itself does not collect payments or payment details. Gumroad license keys are checked once with Gumroad when you click Activate (Gumroad’s own privacy policy applies to that request); after that, the result is saved on your device. Keys we issue directly are checked on your device with a digital-signature check. The extension asks Chrome for permission to contact api.gumroad.com only at that moment.
Children
Tab Wake is a general-purpose tool and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t collect any personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published with the extension update and the “last updated” date above will change.
